TESSY V3 frequently asked questions (FAQs)
What is new in TESSY V3.2?
There are a lot of outstanding features available: TESSY 3.2 (compared to TESSY 3.1) can perform static analysis of the source code, e.g. to check for compliance with the MISRA rules. TESSY 3.2 uses external tools for this purpose; currently PC-Lint by Gimpel and the open source tool CppCheck are supported. In addition to PDF and XML, TESSY V3.2 can create test reports in Word format and in HTML format. TESSY V3.2 can display test data with additional data types graphically, e.g. test data of arrays or test data of components of structures. TESSY 3.2 can now reuse existing test data from other test objects for the current test object even from another module of the same project. For a comprehensive list, please see section “New features in TESSY 3.2” in the TESSY V3.2 Manual.
The main enhancements of TESSY V3.2 compared to TESSY V3.1 are:
- Additional code coverage measures
- Static analysis support using PC-lint
- Project setup from build log
- Extended reuse operation
- Extended plot view
- Enhanced user code
- Enable usability of views within all perspectives
- Filter functions
Can I re-use my existing test cases created with TESSY V3.0/V3.1 in TESSY V3.2?
Yes, this is possible. If you open a TESSY database (*.pdbx) created using TESSY V3.0/V3.1 in TESSY V3.2, TESSY V3.2 asks you if you want to convert the database in the format used by TESSY V3.1. If you confirm, the conversion is done automatically by TESSY V3.2.
Please note: This conversion is irreversible!
Can I convert test cases created with TESSY V3.2 into formats used in former versions TESSY?
Can I re-use my existing test cases created with Tessy V2.9 in TESSY V3.2?

Are all features of Tessy V2.9 also available in TESSY V3?
Some of the more seldomly used features of Tessy V2.9 are not yet available in TESSY V3. This will be remedied in upcoming versions of TESSY. However, some features of Tessy V2.9 are not planned to be available in future versions of TESSY. For a list, please see section “Missing features” in the TESSY V3 Manual.

If I update to a floating license server (FLS) for TESSY V3, can I still use Tessy V2.9?
A license for TESSY V3 is also valid for former versions of Tessy. I.e. you can use Tessy V2.9 (or earlier) using the FLS for TESSY V3. There are no changes required for a Tessy V2.9 installation to contact an FLS for TESSY V3.
Can I just update the license file of my current FLS for Tessy V2.9 to be able to run TESSY V3?
No. You have to install an FLS for TESSY V3 and then you have to migrate your licenses.
Can I operate an FLS for Tessy V2.9 in parallel with an FLS for TESSY V3?
No. A Tessy FLS for V2.9 and a TESSY FLS for V3 cannot run in parallel on the same machine. You need to stop a running FLS before you start the other FLS. (In other words: An FLS for Tessy V2.9 and an FLS for TESSY V3 can be installed in parallel on the same machine, but not run.)
Can I run Tessy V2.9/V3.1 and TESSY V3.2 in parallel?
TESSY V3.2 can be installed and used in parallel with existing TESSY V2.9/3.1 installations on the same machine. (If you use versions in parallel you will need for each version a license; if you use different versions alternatively, one license is sufficient.)
Will Tessy V2.9/V3.0/3.1 stay available?
TESSY V2.9/3.0/3.1 heave reached end of life, i.e. there will be no more bugfixes available.
