At embedded world 2020 in Nuremberg from 25 to 27 February 2020, the focus will once again be on embedded systems and new products on the market. Of course, we will be there, too – with the latest version of our unit test tool TESSY and our other successful tools for automated testing of embedded software in the verification path.

As a world novelty, we will showcase a new "Mutation Test" function for automated quality analysis of unit and component tests and a significantly improved configuration editor TEE within a preview of TESSY 4.3.
The new Mutation Test in TESSY – also known as "Test the Test" – automatically checks the error detection capability of existing test cases. This unique function thus improves the review of test methods and test quality, as required by the standards for functional safety (IEC 61508, IEC 62304, ISO 26262 and EN 50128) and significantly reduces the manual effort. The mutation test minimally "mutates" the C/C++ source code to be tested at error-sensitive locations and thus incorporates typical programming errors. If the unit and integration tests detect the error, these tests are considered useful. Non-detection indicates weak test cases, and the mutation test gives hints where they can be optimized and a better quality in testing can be achieved. With this unique method, tests can be qualitatively evaluated easily and automatically. The objective quality proof of the unit and integration tests can also be used for further certification of embedded software for security applications.
Besides TESSY and CTE, we will also present our certification and system test tools ITE (Integrated Test Environment) and CCDL (Check Case Definition Language). With an elevator system demonstrator we will present how easy a system or HIL test can be defined and automated with CCDL. ITE generates all necessary test result reports which can directly be used for the certification process.
You do not have time to perform the tests yourself or want to check the quality of your software with independent tests? - No problem, our test team supports your test projects and will be happy to consult you. Meet us at our booth 4-434!
