From Concept to Asphalt:
Razorcat supports Campus Motorsport Hannover in the development of its new Formula E racing car
Berlin, August 25, 2026. Since the beginning of 2026, Razorcat has been actively supporting the Formula Student team "Campus Motorsport Hannover" of the Hannover University of Applied Sciences (UAS) in the development of its new E-racing car and is thereby specifically promoting academic talent. Through consulting and the use of industry-standard tools such as TESSY, students receive the opportunity to learn and apply software development at the highest, safety-critical level. Now, this partnership is celebrating its first successes: At the Formula Student Switzerland 2026 in July, Campus Motorsport Hannover took the excellent third place in the overall classification and in the "Junior Cup" as an ambitious electric racing team in the field of "Engineering Design". For the last design competition this year at the end of August in France, the students from Campus Hannover are working concentratedly towards another winning place in the design class.
The past season marked a significant turning point in the history of Campus Motorsport Hannover with the P25 racing car, as the team decided to switch the drive from combustion engine to electric. With this technological realignment, software development gains massive importance in order to master the complex requirements of the E-racing car. Razorcat supports the team in this process with its expertise and its industry-proven tools: Razorcat's test system TESSY as well as the Classification Tree Editor (CTE) are used when testing the vehicle software, ensuring reliable and rapid verification and validation of the software.
Michael Wittner, CEO of Razorcat, emphasizes the importance of the partnership:
„It is an important concern of ours to support the next generation of engineers. By providing our tools to the students, we enable them to master the complex requirements of modern automotive software development directly in a real, high-performance environment. At the same time, our technical heart leaps once again. It fills us with enormous joy not only to see such an impressive racing car on the track after completion, but to be able to accompany it from the very first technical planning to its use on the racetrack.“
Florian Kern, Head of Vehicle Software at Campus Motorsport Hannover, adds:
"Working on this practical project allows us to learn everything firsthand about the construction of an electric vehicle and, in particular, automotive software. The support from industry partners like Razorcat helps us enormously, especially because we can leverage their expertise and wealth of experience. Our new electric racing car, as well as we as students, benefit from this."
Already since 2007, the interdisciplinary team of Campus Motorsport Hannover has been expanding the boundaries of student motor racing. Students from various fields of study at the Hannover University of Applied Sciences develop a new racing car together for every competition season in order to measure themselves against teams from all over the world in the international Formula Student competitions. In the Formula Student competitions, in addition to technical parameters such as acceleration, lap time, and consumption, the economic and design performance, including the business plan, financial planning, and design, are also evaluated.
The connection between academic excellence and industrial application in motorsport becomes tangible in the partnership between Campus Motorsport Hannover and Razorcat: students contribute their ideas and theoretical knowledge to the development of the racing car, while Razorcat supports them with professional development tools and its passion for innovative engineering. The new P27 E-racing car from Campus Motorsport Hannover is intended to be ready for competition in the upcoming 2027 racing season.
